Capital Weather Gang NatCast has 'That midday sun is powerful, but the temperatures and humidity are no major issue. Hopefully a few mood-enhancing clouds bring a bit of shade here and there!' - first pitch temperature about 80, low 80's by 9th inning, 1% chance of precip.

Metro, however, has lots and lots of trackwork, including 20min frequencies on the lines serving Pentagon and Pentagon City...leaving in about a half hour (took me an hour and a half to get to the ballpark two Saturdays ago).

I'll be up in the Loft pregame, find the  :old: :glug:  MacDougal jersey and introduce yourself if we haven't met yet.

Resist the urge!  Don't be another notch on Terp's belt.

Had a wonderful time Saturday; wore my Nats cap and my Yankees "Got Rings" shirt. Met up with Carol and Kathy (?sp),  Tom and Old Chelsea at the Loft. Brought my son Shawn and my brother Rick and his son Drew. Very good (and long) time was had by all. However, I have to admit I paid for the Ben's Half Smoke With Everything frequently during the evening.  ;)

Yeah, it was great meeting up with the Gorinson crew, Tom and Chelsea on Sat!  A lot of fun despite some of them being Yankee fans ;).

Today's Capital Weather Gang NatCast has 'While warmer, still an overall pleasant game night' with no chance of precip; tomorrow and Thursday are however forecast well into the 90's.

Planning on being in TBSITH for all three fixtures of this series...maybe we can steal a win by presenting the Rays with something they're not used to at home - large crowds (only drawing 19,928/fixture at home - only Oakland and Cleveland play to smaller audiences)!

sad to say - I'm at the office and gave up my pair of tickets for tonight.  Really want to see the Rays, but work is killing me.

Same. I can't believe it's going to be 100 Thurs, going to feel like a roasted pig up in those 400 seats. Hope the humidity stays low but knowing the DMV that'll probably never happen.

100 degrees blah blah, the humidity won't even be that high, who cares.  At least there isn't much shrapnel.

I was there last Saturday and Sunday. While we did lose both games, it was an absolute blast and well worth the drive up from South Carolina.

Capital Weather Gang NatCast has 'We've seen some pretty nice weather at Nationals Park this season, but this evening's uncomfortably hot and humid air breaks the trend. Keep the fluids flowing and you should be OK.' with first-pitch temperature of 90's, down to 80's by ninth inning, 5% chance of precip.

Weather forecasts also warn of heat index in 100-105 range - rather unhealthy. Somewhat on the fence about going tonight myself, though the prospect of seeing Strasburg try and pull us out of this tail-spin remains attractive (tomorrow, similar weather is expected, but one of my seat-mates bought my ticket for tomorrow night so I'll be enjoying full air-con with Slowes/Jageler for the finale - plus less pricey adult beverages too of course).

...and yet...can you believe that in the first half of the 20th century, not only were all baseball matches played during the day, but people actually wore suits and ties to the ballpark? Regardless of the weather??

Great weather to melt in at the ball park last night, I suspect today won't be any better.

Weather Channel online giving heat-index predictions that aren't quite as dire as seen earlier - 'only' 92-97 over game-time slots (http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/Washington+DC+20003:4:US?pagenum=2&nextbeginIndex=6). Still need to hydrate regularly, but at least it isn't going to be like the home series against the Padres back in July 2010 (Games 1 and 2 played amid 98-99 degree temperatures and 107 heat index).

[Interesting bit about that Padres series though - Nats posted one-run wins in both of those scorchers; in Game 3, with the temperature a more reasonable 86 degrees, Nats got shellacked 7-1]

OldChelsea- you may have something there. Would be interesting if someone did a correlation analysis with temperature and winning!
