So does the quality start only count if Redding DOESN'T implode after the 6th?
as long as he doesn't allow 3 more earned runs you are good.

Manny Acta is freaking awful. Why didn't Villone start the inning you dummy?

And deny Bergy the chance to plunk another Met?  That was a great one, it really hurt.

So Chief won the bet then?  I don't see where Redding was replaced and it's in the 7th so....

Acta is awful. How many freaking times does he use 3 relievers in one inning? unbelievable.

Villone is a farce

If Villone had retired that batter like should have the Mets would have left in Redding and enabled us to get out of the inning easily and then maybe score in the bottom half against Redding.

Might cost us the game. Thanks, Ron.

He was probably betting, against the odds, that Bergy could muster up a whole 2nd inning...

He's pretty much been the best guy we have, don't you think?  And it was him that called out the rest of the bullpen in the team meeting, the only player to speak up.  The 'pen has been significantly improved since he challenged them to attack hitters.

yeah but he's not as good as his ERA indicates. Walking Brown like he just did is awful. He almost walked the prior batter too.

wow, MacDougal bringing a little heat.

Villone has to attack the edges of the plate, he doesn't have the stuff to just blow hitters away.  If you look at the pitch f/x (Gameday), you'll see pitch 3 was in fact a strike, and all the pitches were close.  He just didn't get a break that time.

A QS has to be fewer than 3 runs and at least 6 innings. so yes.
