2011-12 Road to the Final Four Thread
« Topic Start: November 03, 2011, 12:53:53 AM »
College basketball exhibition games have begun and non-conference games start up for most teams in the next week to 10 days.  Excited to watch Nebraska navigate the B1G for the first time.  Don't know if it will end well, but it should be fun.  I think they do have a decent team and a decent shot at going dancing for the first time since 98.  Or that may just be the pre-season optimism coming through.

I'm looking forward to 2012-2013 or 2013-2014 when the Big East becomes the Big Least... Aside from that, I'm calling a Duke/UNC massacre this year. ACC

It's always been the Big Least to me.  At least for football.

Maryland has 6 walk on players this year on the Men's basketball team. Not good... Nick Faust at least, is supposed to be a deadly 3pt shooter and it looks like there is a nice class coming in next year. Alex Len will be able to play vs Albany after sitting out 10 games.

Basketball will rebound pretty fast at md- you have a good coach, history, and fans. It's football you should be worried about

I'm really not that worried about football. It hasn't exactly been quality for a long time. We win some years but not enough to get crazy about. Edsel does seem to be doing a better job of recruiting. Might be a mindfact though.

You have one of the worst incoming classes according to a few recruiting services (though this is second hand through the radio) apparently crew cut disciplinarian isn't going over well with top recruits

It's not that bad. Check out Rivals or Scout. It's not all world, but I don't see where it's one of the worst. It's still early also.

Edit:

We haven't had a 5* recruit since Melvin Alaeze in 2005 and I'm sure most know how well he worked out. Hell, he's currently in prison.

they should appeal the Len suspension.  Maybe it'll get bumped down.  They will be better towards the end of the year, next year they could be very good.  Mark Turgeon was an excellent hire (while the Randy Edsall move doesn't look good).

College basketball is second to MLB in terms of my favorite sports.  Nothing comes close to these two.

He's baaaaaack......

His introductory press conference had an estimated attendance of well over 5,000......

40 Minutes of Hell is back. Get your shots in while you can. Arkansas basketball, HAWG BALL, is about to party like it's 1990's.

Oh I agree, I think Maryland basketball will recover nicely. I just think that this season might be kinda bad. The class the Terps have coming in next season looks pretty good especially Shaq Cleare(sp?). Let's just hope we can hit free throws and three pointers with some regularity. P. Howard being out for awhile hurts though.

What do we know about this Len guy? I know he's a 7 footer, but that doesn't mean all that much, we've seen them come and go to little avail.

he's a good one.  he's played against some solid international players (who are in the NBA) and has held his own.  he is a total gamer and never leaves the basketball gym.  pretty athletic.  he'll be fun to watch.

Give Turgeon time. He is a really good one. Shocked he took the Maryland job since I thought he was actually happy at TA&MU (I should have known better).

He was for the most part but I think he kinda felt a little underappreciated seeing how they were a football school and he wanted more detail to the hoops program (not contract money related).

Sean Miller would've been the sexy hire, but honestly, Turgeon was right there at the top of my list.  He's going to be a tremendous fit at Maryland.

This.  Huge fan of Turgeon.  He'll give the ACC fits.

MASN is a joke. They can't get the video straightened out during the Syracuse basketball game.

Little late night hoops.  Huskers playing USC, leading midway through the first half.  Hoping they can finally make the tourney this year.  Got some talent and experience for a change.

Good win for ND tonight. Detroit is surprisingly a very good team. Pat Connaughton is going to be a star for ND in a few years.

detroit is good.  solid win for the Irish.  they'll be a team to watch this year.
