Gameday Thread: Nationals @ Astros, Game 1 (L)
« Topic Start: April 07, 2006, 07:39:16 PM »

Armas (7-7, 4.97 ERA in 2005) will face the Astros for the sixth time in his career. He is 2-1 with a 3.14 ERA against them. This will be Armas' first regular season start since having right shoulder surgery last September.

Backe (10-8, 4.76 ERA in 2005) was pushed back two days while nursing a sore back, which was treated with an anti-inflammatory injection prior to Opening Day. Backe, who switched with No. 4 starter Wandy Rodriguez in the rotation order, recorded career highs in almost every statistical category in 2005, including wins, innings, starts, and strikeouts. The Astros are 21-12-1 (.625) in games started by Backe, dating back to his first career start on Aug. 21, 2004. The club was 14-10 in his starts in 2005.

TBA (once Ken or Chief gets here, cause I can't get the damn code to look right. grrrrrrrr.)

I usually just copy the code from Ken's old posts

EDIT - done.  And I see our old friend and one-time center fielder Preston Wilson is opposite Soriano in the Astros' lineup tonight.  Interesting.  I had thought he went back to Colorado.

I believe it was 7.

And I'll use my, old, shopworn line, for the first time this season.  If each batter keeps the bat on his shoulders, it takes, at least, 9 pitches to get three outs.  Every at-bat should be, at least, 9 pitches.

I'll be poking my head in here time to time tonight, I have visiting company.  0-0 in the Top of the 3rd it looks like so far.

Is Armas really doing decent?

yeah, Armas is looking much better than he did at most anytime last season.

he's throwing harder too.

oh, and the game is on WDCA 20, in case anyone else here did not know.
