Hill had another solid outing on Tuesday. Hill lasted 6 1/3 innings and gave up three
runs on 11 hits against the Marlins. He struck out six batters and walked none.
Manager Manny Acta said it was a case of Hill throwing too many strikes, because
some of them were up in the zone. The right-hander threw 97 pitches and 71 of them
went for strikes.

After struggling in his last outing, Olsen was pushed back a few days. Initially he was
set to start on Saturday at Philadelphia. Now, the left-hander will pitch on seven days'
rest. In his last start, a no-decision against the Phillies on Sept. 2, Olsen allowed five
earned runs on seven hits. He also gave up a home run to opposing pitcher Adam Eaton.
He escaped the loss, however, as the Marlins bounced back with five home runs. In his
prior outing, Olsen surrendered a career-high 10 runs, but only six were earned. The lefty
was hit hard by the Braves in four innings, giving up 11 hits while striking out four and
walking two. Olsen has not won in four straight outings.

I'll be posting somewhat while watching both the Nats game and MNF.  Tough start for Hill considering he just faced the Marlins last week.

Ryan should have taken a few pitches.  Nook still would have gotten home and he would have definitely gotten a pitch to hit because Olsen stinks.

That inning should have been bigger. Zimmerman and Kearns were too impatient.  They let Olsen off the hook.

Young was too impatient too he just happened to get a hit.

Dude  :stupid:

My point was that he (and Zimmerman and Kearns) would still get pitches to hit, later in the at-bat because Olsen stinks.  Nothing was gained that wouldn't have been gained after a few more pitches plus they could have driven up Olsen's pitch count.

I know what you were saying but I don't buy to that theory entirely. If a hitter like Young gets a pitch he likes then he should swing and it shouldn't matter that it's the first pitch of the at bat.
