No doubt. Only giving up 4 runs should give a team a very good chance of winning the ball game, especially facing a pitcher far from established.

Really?  Giving up 4 runs in 5 innings to the filth the Mutts ran out tonight is good enough?

Goodness gracious.

Can't imagine how AAA hitters made so much contact against him.

So terribleness doesn't warrant boos?

No, no.  You blame a player for taking the field when ordered by his manager?  It's the fault of the GM and team front office if the players don't have the talent to succeed.   What's booing supposed to do for anyone?

So luck is now a quantifiable statistic too?

When talking about percentages compared to the averages, yes.  One pitcher having a .375 BABIP against him, especially if pitch type, contact % etc. aren't out of whack, would be considered bad luck.

For a batter it would be the guy who keeps lining out.  Compared to the league averages you can find guys whose luck was better/worse than others and track it to see if their result stats improve once those measurables return to normal.

He's only had 22 starts and none this year in the bigs. I wouldn't give up on that yet.

But with the Nats... his best chance to break with the club next year  is out of the pen. His stuff is Nasty, either as a starter or out of the pen.  He certainly looks like a Major Leaguer and not a AAAA guy.
I'm being honest with you...he ranks very low on the totem poll, there is nothing wrong with being a reliever.

For the record, as much as I like you...If your daughter was married to Mike Bacsik, I just couldn't root him on. Collin actually has some nasty stuff.

Like Tom, I don't boo unless the player just stops trying... but I could certainly see other fans doing it, soon.

Is showing no improvement in some basic areas of his game not a sign of lack of effort?  I see absolutely nothing different from Flushy when it comes to his approach to the plate, his attempts at bunting, his ability/technique when sliding etc.  At some point that is the evidence of a lack of effort.

Can't wait to give him a big High Five from all of us tomorrow. DC here we come.
Awesome job. Sorry to patronize but I have set here too when batters were laying flat on the backs and praying they weren't hurt.

Maybe he's not being compelled by the manager to really work on those things.

How can it not be a base hit?  There was nothing done wrong by the defender.

Or he's not receptive to new information.
