I wonder, how much of this is Wil Nieves? Yes, the pitcher can shake off pitches he doesn't want to throw but shaking off pitches should be the exception, not the rule. The catcher should know the hitters and what pitches should be thrown.

I don't trust Wil Nieves behind the plate.

Oh, I'm not letting him off the hook. He's definitely played his part in this fiasco but I do wonder what role the catcher plays on a day like this.
