Nationals @ Padres, Game 1
« Topic Start: May 28, 2010, 06:54:36 PM »
My debut GDT launch on WNFF - but admittedly a little risky since I was born in San Diego (albeit 17 years before the formation of the MLB Padres - but the PCL AAA team that preceded them was also called Padres).

First pitch at 22.05 ET
Airing on MASN2 HD and WFED AM-1500 (y AM-730 en espanol)

Starting pitchers: John Lannan (1-2, 5.55) vs Clayton Richard (4-2, 2.73)

Nats starting line-up, per Nats Insider in the Post:

1. Nyjer Morgan, CF
2. Cristian Guzman, 2B
3. Adam Dunn, 1B
4. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B
5. Josh Willingham, LF
6. Ian Desmond, SS
7. Justin Maxwell, RF
8. Wil Nieves, C
9. John Lannan, P

Ryan Zimmerman needs one more GIDP to move into a tie for 10th place all time on the Nats/Expos record books.

The man currently in 10th place? Tim Raines.

Richard has a really nice two-seamer. A lot of movement.

If everyone else falls asleep, I'll watch. Otherwise, the Ricky Gervais Show is a good second choice.

Karl Pilkington is the man. The diary is the best part of that show.

Bob just said that the Padres are 23 for 30 against the Nats since '05

Old Chelsea's Padres lineup ought to be the governing authority - oh, wait.... :(

If that had been the case nothing would happen since Dunn was already out. They would've just played with the new lineup and the Padres could've played the game under protest. But as it turns out we caught a break.

Nice to see Lannan hitting 91 mph on the gun.

It's really not a big deal. Doubtful we protest if we lose.

The game is already under protest.  They have a bogus starting pitcher.

Riggleman should have been allowed to pick a reliever from their staff.

I believe the rule states that the pitcher listed on the lineup card must pitch to at least one batter, this is to prevent pinch-hitting for a pitcher before he appears in the game.

I guess at this point all the Nats can do is protest the game if they lose, but I can't imagine the league would uphold the protest since the mistake didn't impact the game.

Zimmerman looked awful in that at bat.  Watched a strike on the outside corner, down the middle, and inside corner.  Jeesus, what the hell are you waiting for?
