A fine ballplayer: his hitting power got smothered in old Griffith Stadium, but he had pop; he drew walks like nobody else except for Ted Wiliams, and he was a good fielder. Incidentally, Yost replaced Cecil Travis, "the best player never to get a single vote for the Hall of Fame", when Travis returned from WWII and had to be moved from SS to 3B because his toes had been frostbitten during the Battle of the Bulge.
Career OBP of .394. Got more than 100 walks about eight times. Adam LaRoche led this year's Nats with about 65 walks.
