Speigner looks to build off his best outing in five starts this season, a 3-1 win on Saturday over his former organization. Selected from Minnesota in last December's Rule 5 Draft, Speigner allowed just two hits in a career-high six innings for his first career win as a starter. His first quality start was also the first time he allowed fewer than four earned runs as a starter. With his sinker working well, Speigner retired 15 of the final 17 batters he faced and didn't face more than four batters in any inning. He had a 14.44 ERA in his previous four starts.

Marcum continued his stellar run as a member of Toronto's rotation on Saturday, when he blanked the Dodgers for 6 2/3 innings en route to his third win of the year. The right-hander allowed seven hits, but escaped a handful of jams and finished with four strikeouts and no walks. In six turns as a starter, Marcum has gone 2-0 with a 2.34 ERA. He's tallied 28 strikeouts versus 12 walks in 34 2/3 innings over that span. Marcum has never faced Washington in his young career.
