Byrd has not been sharp his last few times out. He continues to pound the strike zone and avoid walking batters, but in doing so he's let some very hittable pitches cross the plate. He has given up at least 10 hits in each of his past three starts. Against the Braves on Saturday in his previous outing, he gave up five runs on 10 hits over five innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Chico gave up a career-high eight runs on nine hits in four-plus innings against the Tigers in his last start. He knew there could be problems before the game started, because all his pitches were up in the strike zone during his bullpen session. By the second inning, it was clear that Chico had nothing in the tank.

Zimmerman will not be seeing hittable fastballs until he proves he can handle the breaking stuff or lays off the slider out of the strike zone.

I don't understand how people can casually show up so late for a game. If you know the game starts at 7 why would you be ambling in at 7:20?

That would still be early in LA.  They show up in the 3rd, and leave in the 7th.  Then there are the Marlins - they still haven't shown up for the opener.

That's funny but seriously I find that extremely frustrating. I guess that's the casual fan mentality. I just wouldn't bother if it was like that for me. I got stuck on the subway once and it made me show up in the middle of the 2nd and I was so livid I wanted to turn around and go home but that would've meant me missing a couple more innings.

That was a pressure-filled moment, that stealing of the base there.

Yep. I notices this season that Zims definitely has shown himself to be vulnerable to ther off-speed stuff, and the opposition have zoned in on this.

You can usually bring them in but it all depends. I got mine confiscated last season against the Giants and it had everything to do with the fact that they don't like negative signs about Bonds.

K thanks, mine obviously has nothing to do with Bonds nor anything offensive against Cleveland. So im guessing it will make it in.

Wow, the participation in this thread sucks.  However, I shouldn't be complaining, because I haven't been here.

LOL, a triple for Schneiderman.  Not an official triple, but still.

Even though Chico isn't a terrible hitter, I would still tell him to bunt the guy (on second) over.  Whether Brian should go home is debatable.

Son of a nag.  However, this is our offense's fault.  We gotta back our starter better than this.
