The underrated/hatred of Strasburg by some on this board is absolutely hilarious. He's lived up to the hype so far in his career, is our best pitcher, is an ace, and some fans want him gone. Unreal.

I have a feeling that Strasburg will not sign an extension and will be traded to S.D.  Hope i am wrong, but i just think he wants to be there. We retool, in several years,  and reunite Little Gio and Freid (plus a lot more).

Just a hunch....

Pretty sure Strasburg wil never want to be traded to a team that is last in their division.

Not sure about the SD, but Stras has not always been happy with management here and will be likely to want to see if the grass is greener elsewhere.

I could definitely see that. But unless the A's move to San Jose and start spending a lot of money, I don't see him getting to Cali. The Dodgers and Angels will still be paying off their huge contracts. The Padres will still be acting like a small market team.

We'll see.  A lot can happen in 3 years.  If they take the reigns off fully this year, which I think they will, those attitudes can change.  If he and the next manager work really well together and he becomes that horse that he's said he wants to be, if the Lerners are willing to pony up the cash, like they've said they want to do for these core young guys, there's no reason he couldn't be around for a while longer.

Maybe, but they kind of suck with contracts so I suspect they'll have money issues too. Still, probably the closest bet

they just got one of the worst contracts in baseball off their books, Posey Pence and Cain are their only huge long term deals, Bumgarner is downright cheap through 2017. They are in one of the richest (depending on the metric, the richest) cities in the US, they don't have another team controlling their tv rigths, and they've shown a willingness to spend. I don't know if they'll do it, but I wouldn't count them out (if anything the Nats - thanks MASN- will have more money issues)

I don't know if you've noticed, but they like giving contracts to players who aren't worth it. Lincecum, Cain, Pagan . . .
