Chacon came off the disabled list Sunday and made his first start since May 16. He'd been out with a hematoma on his left leg and got a no-decision by working five-plus innings against the A's in a game during which he yielded five runs on six hits. Chacon, as a member of the Rockies, lost his only start against the Nationals last year, but he gave up just two earned runs over seven innings. He's 2-2 with one save against the Nationals/Expos with a 3.03 ERA in 32 2/3 innings.

Ortiz will face the Yankees for the 12th time in his career. He s 3-1 with a 4.12 ERA against them. In his last start, Ortiz was solid for 6 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. He struck out seven batters, walked two in a 4-3 loss. The loss ended his five-game winning streak. The Rockies got quite a few broken-bat hits, but the way Ortiz saw it, he made some bad pitches.
