The keg will run out before the ads to buy season tickets and merchandise are over.

The '80s sucked. Musically and otherwise. Why would anyone want to relive them?  :stir:

Well, except for Take on Me.

The 80s most definitely did not suck.  It was a great time in my life which included college, living in Europe, and graduate school.  I loved the 80s.

Let's see:

Bad things:
AIDS
crack
Iran-Iraq war
Air Supply
McRibs
Ollie North for Senate

Good things:
Guns n Roses

Yep, I have to agree with you.

Air Supply apparently still tours

Wouldn't a bunch of the Nationals players have been born during the 80s?

And I ran.
I ran so far away.
I just ran.
I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

They used to have movies after games!  That is cheaper than this offer!

It was a great time in my life too. But musically, culturally, politically, it  most definitely sucked.

How can a decade that produced the greatest song of all time have sucked musically?

Pretty much the only good thing to come out of the 80s was The Princess Bride.

GOOD
A big chunk of the Redskins' great days (1982 and 1987 Super Bowl wins)
Capitals start winning, going to playoffs and drawing well

BAD
First full decade since 1870's without major league  baseball in Washington (since 1860's if you believe the National Association to have been a major league)

Oliver North's Senate campaign was in 1994.

BTW, as long as we're talking about the 1980s, how about George Costanza.....before he was George Costanza?

Speak for yourself.  Some of the music was good and some was bad, just like any other era/decade.  Culturally, well, OK, it wasn't great but it didn't suck.  And Reagan rocked, especially after 4 years of Jimmy Carter.  And, as one of the other posters wrote, if you were a Redskins fan there wasn't a better time in team history than the 80s.

Interesting note about the baseball aspect... A fact which, despite knowing it to be true, I never realized. Born in 1983, kind of depressing to realize we had two entire decades without baseball. My generation is one which grew up without baseball. I'm sure 90% sort of followed the Orioles, particularly with Ripken's accomplishments, but I wasn't one of them. Then adding the transient nature of DC residents... Still depressing.

I was just thinking this past weekend though about something related. Next year marks eight years of Nats baseball. Our ninth season. A. It's impossible to believe that it has been so long since, I would hope, many of us sat at RFK that Thursday night and watched the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Most importantly: A kid that'll be eight wasn't alive when DC was baseballless. Figure a kid being seven or eight before really remembering stuff and following baseball, kids that grew up with the Nats and never really knew an MLB void in DC are almost ****ing adults now. Eight and eight equals 16. So basically there are kids out there that grew up with the Nats and will soon be 16. Kids driving that grew up with Ryan Zimmerman. That crap is scary to realize it's been so long.

There were quite a good amount of films I enjoyed from the 80's...

Back to the Future
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Indiana Jones series
Ghostbusters
Caddyshack
Star Trek II (Wrath of Khan) & IV (The Voyage Home)

I have a pretty immature taste in movies.

Don't sell 80's movies short.  1980 alone had Raging Bull, The Empire Strikes Back, The Shining, Airplane, and Caddyshack
