Can you give me a better description of where this is? I sure as hell won't go as far as you are going, and I may have to drop back and ride by myself, but I'd like to give it a shot if I can get enough done today.
Gravely Point Park is just at the north end of National Airport, south of the 14th St. bridge. If you come by car, it's off of the GW Parkway. The boat launch area is on the southwest corner of the park.

For G-Burg however, he won't be able to turn directly into the park as he's coming down the GW on the southbound side, where there's no left turn.  If memory serves, he'll have to go past the park, exit into National Airport, and then follow the signs to come back onto GW northbound where it's an easy right hand turn.

G-burg, one word of warning, don't be cavalier with the speed limit signs in the airport area.   :nono:

You're probably going to want to go ahead and park in Crystal City and ride the mile over to the parking lot; parking there is going to be a disaster.  Are you guys meeting at 1pm?  If so I'll stop by and say hey.

I used to live near there. I was going to say -- I doubt you find parking there tomorrow at 1.

I frequent the north bay area of San Fran during warmer months; this is one of the roads I'm hoping to try once I get the nerve.

I know this was my idea - but I was expecting clear weather and temps in the mid-60s. It's under 50, damp and cool.

So, I'm going to pass on this today and probably just do a shorter ride in my neighborhood.

Yeah, I'm going to the gym to pump iron and hit the elliptical instead. We do need to set up a group ride though once spring sets in.

I'm going to give the roads a chance to dry up a bit (too lazy for chain maintenance on a Sunday), but will try to head up Beach Drive later.

That is this "gym" of which you speak?  Is that for sexy time?

Last time I rode to Mt Vernon it was like 20 degrees and there was ice on the boardwalk sections.  At least there were no joggers in iOblivion.

A good rule of thumb for the Mt Vernon trail is - less than 60 and not a weekend?  Ride like the wind. Over 60 degrees and/or the weekend?  Stick to the road.

Does anyone believe Lance Alworth has a case for himself or is he just trying to get away with anything he can ?

Johnny Sample (Confessions of a Dirty Player) ranked Alworth a 5 (his highest rating) in every category he rated receivers in.  By contrast, Raymond Berry scored a 1 for speed (though 5's for moves, hands, willingness to fight for the ball, and ability to not be rattled by Sample's trash talk).

Thank you for bring up Alworth, but shouldn't that be in a football thread?

Found a really cool network of trails by my place that has nice technical climbs and then descends in flowing, winding single track. Had a great day poking around the woods today.

The "rocks of doom" portion of the trail definitely reminded me why I use flats instead of clip less pedals lol

That's a sweet track.  Looks like sandy soil with good drainage, so you aren't going to end up with the mud flats we get around here.  Rocks of doom are probably nut busters...I crushed my package so badly riding down a trail from skyline drive I could scarcely wear anything tighter than a kilt for about a week.  That was back before disc brakes, where your rims got so hot after a while the brake pads pretty much ceased to function.

The trail handles rain very well from what I could tell. It rained Friday and sat and there was very little mud on the trail and no standing water. If anyone is in the Atlanta area and looking for a trail, it's called Mt Tabor Mtn Bike Trails.
