I blame you

Slateman blamed me before the series even started.  It's definitely my fault.

In 09 I (mindfact?) remember the team bringing it -hard- against teams that were supposed to be dominant contenders and getting crushed by teams like the Astros.  They played up to the level of their opponent and the opponents said 'Meh. Three games. Think I'll recharge my batteries a bit and loaf.'

Before the 'No pro ball player would ever do that!' people jump on me, the last half of that last sentence is hyperbolic, but you get my point.

It's a 162 game season.  Of course players are going to take mental days off even if they're physically in games.  It happens.

Still, being swept by a team going nowhere except the rebuilding route is unacceptable.

these things happen, the best teams will occasionally get swept by  bad teams and bad teams will occasionally sweep division leaders - 162 games is enough time for strange things to happen- maybe having to fight for the division rather than putting it on cruise control with a month to go would be good for this team

They always seem to play badly at Great American Park.

GABP and Busch are houses of horror.

Cold streaks follow hot streaks, so not surprised to see a slowdown, but that was a rough series. Oh well, 3 games out of 162, go out and get them today, gentleman.

IIRC in 09 we took 2/3 from the Yankees in Yankee Stadium, the same Yankee team that went on to win the whole thing. Hell John Lannan had like a 7 IP shutout or something along those lines.

And now they're saying he looks hurt, mechanically.

Felix had one through 3 and then he exploded into teeny tiny pieces all over Safeco.

I was hoping that once we grabbed first place that we'd take off running and never look back. Well, the Mets are playing well again and we'll be all tied up later tonight. It's going to be a long ride this season.

That's what I was watching up until the grand slam. Now I'm watching deGrom.

Double play. He's still faced the minimum through 6.

Who was the fool on here that claimed the Padres were a good hitting team recently? :hysterical: They are a complete joke from top to bottom. Terrible lineup. AJ Preller screwed the pooch.

R.A. Dickey and former Nat Marco Estrada tomorrow. If we can't hit those bums, freak it all.

I wouldn't say we exactly lit them up.  So freak it all?
