2nd and 3rd and no outs and we still can't score. The ship is sinking fast. The energy has been zapped.

What was wrong with Langerhans AB? He hit it hard, just right at Fielder.

Fielder caught it. that's all.

or perhaps some of us actually realize that we actually play against real teams, and are capable of recognizing that on some days real teams will simply out play us, and pitchers will simply be dominant. and some of us are capable of giving simple credit for that on those days.

if we were facing a couple of bums and they shut us out like this, I'd be upset.

but we are not.

Of course these are great pitchers. No one expects us to light them up. I don't expect us to do much at all. But that is also because the team enters a game against good pitchers with the idea that it is going to be a mighty struggle. Against great pitchers, they act like they have no hope. They don't even approach the game with much of a plan. It's been an annoying attitude all season. Professional competitors should go into a game wanting to face the best and beat them. If they lose, they should tip their hats. These guys seem to write the concession speach before the game starts.

You have to be the most pessimistic person ever. IF we don't score any runs tomorrow and Monday, THEN you can say this. Until then, you chalk it up to being out pitched.

We won't be the first team and we won't be the last team to get shutout by Sabathia and Sheets.

Ayala sucks, I think we all can agree on that one.

Hopefully you were off to enjoy Soul Caliber 4 before Sheets knocked in that run.  :-[

It's really getting ridiculous with Ayala. Hate to see it really. It's hurting his legacy. He used to be a great pitcher but he's just not the same since the injury.

Ayala looks like he's done or at least needs some extensive work in the minors to get back on track.

C'mon Milledge knock one out. Kill the shutout. You got a single last time.

I wish our fans would stay in the park until the last pitch. I suppose we need better pitching for that to happen.

0.56 WHIP for Sheets in this game.  :-[

True to an extent. But in 2008, we are the 4th team shutout by Sabathia and the 2nd team shutout by Sheets (that's 2 of the 6 combined) and the ONLY team shutout by BOTH Sabathia and Sheets.

It's bad anyway you look at it. The reality of course is that these are great pitchers on an excellent team versus a team that stinks.

Quality loss since it was against a good pitcher, at least in Manny's book. Get ready for the Post-game Presser...

Teams don't need a bullpen against the Nationals.

Too think Redding was one of our best pitchers not too long ago.
