How was Tyler Clippard having a quality start not a positive thing?

He didn't have a quality start. He only went 4.1 innings. You have to pitch a MINIMUM of 6 innings w/ 3 or fewer runs against to get a QS.

Give the guy a break.  Sensible fans can see positive things to build off a loss, especially a close one like this, with plenty of good elements to them.  How was Tyler Clippard having a quality start not a positive thing?
Clippard had about as a good of start as Mock had. Neither got through the 5th.  They both showed promise but clearly they have things to work on in AAA.

I missed the quality start you speak of.

I request that some of the members around here just take a two day timeout and watch a competitive team for a couple of days.  There's too many seeing this season with horse blinders on...these fans need to be reminded on what a REAL major league team looks like.   :?

By quality start, I think he meant that we saw a lot of potential in his breaking ball. Just because we lost, its not the end of the world. The offense didn't do badly, then pen didn't give up runs, we just had a couple of unlucky breaks.

clips start was FAR better than mocks. clip had 6 K's and at times was FILTHY, mock showed nothing to get excited about.

I would have to agree that I was more encouraged by Clippard's start than by Mock's. I wouldn't mind seeing Clippard staying up and getting another start, but I would rather him be sent back down to AAA than to sit and rot in the bullpen.

Had Clippard pitched just a bit better, I think Bowden would have started accepting offers for OP right away. I don't see OP staying here, but if he does, he'd be a great lefty out of the 'pen, IMO.

Mock has much better control than Clippard. The heat just got to him in the 5th inning on Sunday and he lost control. Strikeouts aren't everything.

Both showed promise, both had similar results.

A WNFF Homework assignment? Nice.

It might break down the clouds of delusion in some though. Do you really want them to crash that hard?

Roto Authority's fantasy picks of the week. (This was no fun to read :?)

How about some spot start candidates for the week?

    * Ian Snell vs. Nationals.  Snell is coming off a promising 9 K effort, and he faces the worst offense in baseball.  Time for him to start a roll.
