Freeman homer in the second. Braves are teeing off on Vogelsong like we did. 2-0 ATL

So the Phillies have a guy with no knees steal on our LEFTY to get in scoring position for an insurance run, while we have our leading base stealer gunned down in a brain dead steal attempt.  Hmmmm.  Is this what they mean by us being young?  NO. That is just bad baseball.

Kurt Suzuki is making Jesus Flores look better and better every at bat.  That trade could have been the best thing to happen for Flores's career.

I'd have been fired in 2 seconds if I had been calling that play.

Yeah, Kurt Suzuki is pretty awful.  His utter crapeness in Oakland wasn't just a product of the ballpark.

That was an awful excuse to begin with though, seeing as he played in the same ballpark since his MLB debut.

He's still infinitely better than Flores on defense.

Yup. I mean we knew Suzuki couldn't hit much but a sub .500 OPS is pretty absurd. He seems like a good guy and all but what happened to the guy that hit 13-15 HRs a year between 2009-2011. Is he off the juice?

Maybe Danny thought he would be given the base on defensive indifference?

I've noticed no real difference.

And LintyFresh (I think) and I were laughed at for wanting John Jaso at the deadline.   :(

At least the Giants are helping us out tonight, NOT.

Bases loaded, no outs. Crawford Ks on a pitch in the dirt and Vogelsong swings at the first pitch and hits into a DP.

Desmond was scratched with mild hamstring strain. Davey plans to give him weekend off.

:hang: That sucks, we need his bat in the lineup.

He doesn't hit homers, that's what we need.

My dad says that one night Gil Coan, fastest Nat, was sent fron first on a hit and run. Batter drove a long fly ball, which would be around 450 feet in most parts of Griffith Stadium (I'm not kidding: look up the old ball park's dimensions). Coan has rounded third when the OF caught the ball. Coan ran, touched third, and then ran across the middle of the diamond toward first as old Arch MacDonald shouted "What is he doing? Go back! Go back, you idiot! What???"

There is precedent.

Lousy start to the Philly series.  Morse and Desmond hurt.  Jackson shakey.  Terrible steal attempt by Espi.  All in all a bad night.  Hopefully we'll do better tomorrow which is now today.

Was it Espinosa's decision or Bo Porter's? Sounds like Espinosa...

If Desmond is out, then I doubt Espinosa is benched.

I hate these little injuries, as it looks like both Desmond and Morse will be unavailable for a couple of days.  That really depletes our bench and will likely hurt us in close games.
