Runners on first and second, no outs...no runs scored.

Let's talk about situational hitting, shall we?

I didn't even think that was possible.

40 games under .500? This team is truly horrible. We have an average AAA team masquerading as a major league ballclub.

So what Carpenter, we ended last season 43 games under .500. We'll reach that abyss on Friday so we're just going to pick up where we left off and go from there.

Did Bob just say the Mets carry a 4-1 lead into the ninth? Or am I too damn drunk?  Or both?

We're a marginal AAA team at this point.

I dunno.  I'm blacked out on the game so I don't get Carp/Dibbs.  But I am listening to Charlie and Dave (both more competent than Carp) and neither mentioned a 4-1 lead.

But yes, you're too drunk.

EDIT:  My guess is Carp said a FOUR RUN lead.

Isn't that always the story with the Nationals? Slumping club comes in and tees off on the Nationals. Nothing fixes a slump like coming to Washington. Wait till the Nationals play San Diego. They'll look like world beaters for a series.

You're drunk. He said they carry a 4-run lead.

8-32 against the east. It's not like the Nats play in a power division or anything. Everyone sucks except the Phillies. These numbers are depressing.

And so much for being a young team. Look at this lineup. Kearns and Morgan were the youngest position players, and they're 29. So much for the youth movement.

This team is so profoundly uncompetetive.  I don't know how it's possible to be this bad.

What other team should I root for so that I have a dog in this year's pennant chase?

Mets?  No.
Phillies?  No.
Marlins?  No.
Cubs?  HELL NO.
Cardinals?  Perhaps....
Brewers?  Perhaps....
Astros?  Probably (but they aren't going anywhere)
Giants?  No.
Rockies?  No.

Dodgers it is.
