I'm gonna be in and out on this one.

Gametap? Booo. Emulators are your friend 
Emulators are too much hassle, imo.
having the easy, friendly access to my classic games is worth the 10 bucks a month, imo.
try to download Roms from websites, and they have you jump through 40 billion hoops, and voting at 50 BILLION random sites before they let you download. I don't have the patience for that.
I tried to find Xenogears for the PSX for the emulator i had, and the damn site made me vote 5 TIMES at 5 different sites, and then after i did all that, i couldn't download the damn game.
Well they are now, but I amassed a fat collection of ROMs back in the day when they were everywhere. Back before all the big sites got taken offline. And the emulator programs themselves are easy to find, well maintained, and do the job well, so I have no complaints
