Gameday Thread: Nationals @ Mets, Game 1 (L)
« Topic Start: April 03, 2006, 12:18:00 PM »
April 3rd - Washington Nationals (2) vs New York Mets (3)

Livan Hernandez (15-10 3.98)

Hernandez (15-10, 3.98 ERA in 2005) will face the Mets for the 29th time in his career. He is 10-10 with a 4.52 ERA against them. It will be the sixth time in his career and third year in a row that Hernandez has been given an Opening Day assignment. He was the Opening Day starter for the Expos/Nationals in 2004 and '05, while the Giants gave him the nod in 2001 and '02 and the Marlins did so in 1998.

Tom Glavine (13-13 3.53)

An Opening Day assignment is nothing new for Glavine (13-13, 3.53 ERA in 2005). He made four with the Braves, and threw the Mets' first pitch of the season in 2003 and 2004 with decidedly different results. He was the losing pitcher in his Mets debut on March 31, 2003, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings against the Cubs in windswept and chilly Shea Stadium. The Mets lost, 15-2. He beat the Braves in Atlanta on Opening Day '04, allowing two runs in six innings in a 7-2 game. His record and ERA in six Opening Day starts are 3-3 and 4.42. Glavine has beaten the Expos-Nationals more often than he has beaten any opponent -- 30 times. He won three of four decisions against them last season.

Is anyone else using MLB TV? If so, what do you think of the new look?

LOL, I stare at the stinking screen constantly eagerly anticipating the outcome of the latest pitch.  I watch it closer than if I had a TV.  They should do a special on "gameday junkies".

Livan looks sharp!  Or should I say, I am infering that he is sharp from reading the abbreviated running game notes on mlb.com gameday.

Let's just say the results are positive thus far.

Why would Watson try to bunt Livan over?  We don't want Livan sprinting around the bases.

When Livan is on base, home runs only please.  Thank you for taking my suggestion.
