First half is good, second half is dull.

actually, I posted this as a joke in the SunShine Squad thread, but it is pretty darn amazing.  7MM views.  Clapton is g-d.

Jon Landau (Rolling Stone) didn't quite agree with you.

Quote
"Clapton is a master of the blues clichés of all the post World War II blues guitarists, particularly B.B. King and Albert King.
And he didn't play a note that wasn't blues during the course of the concert... Improvisation means the creation of new
musical ideas spontaneously. It does not mean stringing together pieces and phrases of already learned musical ideas. He is
a virtuoso at performing other people's ideas".

I would guess that Landau would describe Duane Allman as ripping off Elmore James and nothing more.

Just  :stir: a bit.

Truth is I've never been a huge Clapton fan.  Just don't feel the passion.

He's a Brit, they don't do passion.

Tom - listen to this particular performance. Even if you don't like what Clapton developed into, this performance is nuts.

I have XM 23 on right now and a great version of Tangled Up In Blue by the Jerry Garcia Band is on.

I work with the slide guitarist's brother. He's a pretty damn good guitar player. Also played in Funny Money with Steve Whiteman of Kix fame.

Listening to lynyrd skynyrds new album. Normally I don't like full albums, but this one minus maybe 2-3 songs I'm liking. I usually listen to their old stuff, but saw this one and decided to see how it was. Good decision.

I'm reviewing documents and listening to Springsteen's concert for the Vietnam Veterans in Los Angeles on August 20, 1981. Great show at which he played a number of songs he doesn't perform very often ("Johnny Bye Bye" is playing as I type this).

One of my new obsessions is this band.

They are called "Earlyrise"

Fairly new...   Their album is amazing....including the song "Goodbye"

This is the acoustic version of their song "Old Friend"

I can't find their version of Let it Ride to goad Mathguy, so I'll just post this. Sometimes Canada does ok things.
