Nyjer makes a catch against the wall!  That's a shocker, he's been afraid of the wall all year.  Maybe he's been reading WNFF....

I wonder if Riggleman's learned anything about putting together a lineup, with this team, from this game?

I can't wait to see what he does tomorrow.

The problem is that we are not built to play with a DH.  We have NO bench.  Harris is our first option?  He won't even sniff the Mendoza line this year.  I would like have given Morse a crack tonight because we need a big stick to replace the pitcher, not another pitcher-like slap hitter that tries to pull everything.  We will be at a severe disadvantage when playing in AL parks (except when #37 pitches).

I'm sure the thought was to throw lefty batters against  a sinker balling righty who can't K guys.  That might explain why Morse isn't in there. Guz does not hit righties well either.  I don't know if some of the problem is that Riggs let rust accumulate on some of the veterans in May, like Kennedy and Harris, rather than rotate the playing time more, but both of them have dropped off.

You have to put together a lineup for offense.  Any lineup where offense is your primary concern, doesn't include both Harris and Kennedy.

Mike Morse can play 2nd base and he'd be better offensively than Kennedy.

There are some player that just shouldn't be in the lineup together, EVER.  Kennedy and Harris are those kind of players.

Westbrook was incredibly hittable.  I would have used Morse because I would have assumed that Westbrook wouldn't be good and he wasn't.

And Guzman didn't play because of an injury.

Not defending it, just explaining what the thought process was.  Westbrook actually has reverse splits this year, so skipping Morse for what was put in there was maybe overmanaging.

After watching the 1st inning, I'm glad we got blown out.  Can you imagine if we would have lost 3-1 after that debacle?

Of course, if we had scored 2 in the first (thanks for nothing Nyjer) and gotten out of the bottom of the inning with no runs (thanks Kennedy and ump) who know what would have happened.  We may have blown them out.   Sigh.

Ugh...I was just thinking about my "Get Stammen on the line" post...

It's so bad that the options are Craig Stammen or Luis Atilano.   :spaz:

Jim Riggleman is delusional.  It wasn't ok to run in the first inning because you have no idea how the game is going to develop.

Westbrook was ready to give it up that first inning.
