Banana Bread Beer tastes so much like banana bread, it's uncanny. I love it (but not for every mood).

I was hopin' to hear that assessment.    I love me some banana bread.    Gonna have to give this stuff a try.

Really?

I was super disappointed. To my tastebuds, there was little banana flavor. I found it very malt forward and was hoping for a little more banana in the aroma hops.

It wasn't terrible but for the price, I wouldn't buy it again.

For Friday night - saw this at the refurbished Belle Haven Safeway:

The 7-11 down in Fort Hunt has a fairly impressive beer selection, my Dad was drinking Dogfishhead 90 minutes from there the other day.  Kind of funny seeing the old man drinking craft brews.

I was wondering the same thing.   I'm well north of 60 and enjoy good beer  ...  no matter where it's made.

Really?  I think the Wells Banana Bread tastes nothing like banana bread.  I found it disappointing.  It needs more of the spices if it wants to be sincere.

Mid 70s, grew up in a small farm town and very tight with his money, so premium beers from a convenience store are a rare luxury item.

The missus says I'm tight with the money.   I tell her I'm thrifty.   :P

I hear ya.  The world view is very different for those children of the Depression.  I hope to meet him someday at Nats Park - the beer is on me.  In the meantime, I hope you get to take him to any of the many microbreweries or places with great beer variety in the DC area

Dogfishhead hell hound is the best lemon beer I've ever had,  nice and hoppy, 10 abv,  and a decent amount of Lemmon.  Safeway carries it,  happy accident stumbling across it.

There is value in high alcohol content, though.

When in Dogfish Head restaurants my staple is the Raison d'etre, at 8% just slides in under the cutoff for a full portion.

Founders Breakfast Stout would be my favorite mainly during the winter.

So true and not just because if the alcohol content. They have more flavor that lingers in your mouth so you don't need to take another sip right away. Saw on 60 minutes where the goal of these artificial flavor chemists develop flavors that leave your mouth right away and your natural tendency is to reload when that happens.
