OT: Did the term "shortstop" really come from when 4 outfielders became 3 and the guy that moved in "stopped short" of the outfield?

(random, I know)

yeah.  which is why eagleskins' comment about sanches and manning kinda puzzles me.  manning has gotten rocked much more than sanches has from what I have seen, so if sanches sucks then I don't see how manning "looks good".

He doesn't. Does he not remember Manning single-handedly losing us two games against the Padres? He gave up a HR to two lefties; Adrian Gonzalez and Jody Gerut.

Lopez with another deep fly out. Does he not get sick of doing the same stupid crap every AB? Lenny Harris is freaking worthless.  Lopez is a dead fly ball hitter but it doesn't benefit him because he's not a HR hitter.

Debbie Taylor just said the "good news" is that LoDuca is on his way to recovery. What would be her idea of "great" news? Signing Wily Mo to a 5-year extension?

If Walnuts catches another game for us, Manny needs to be fired.

for as badly as sportsfan rips on Sanches, his stats don't really look that bad at a glance.

Sanches 2-0 W-L, 6.0 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 6 K; 4.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP.

You'd expect better for a reliever, but he's been pitching lights-out to minor league hitters.  We might as well give him more of a chance.  If he finds his groove, we're a step closer to leaving Toon Town...

Did Rowand get hurt?  That would help us out for the rest of the series.

They probably just replaced him b/c of the lead.

Sanches is a Beast! Man he is so eerily similar to Booker and Winston Abreu. It's almost chill-inducing.  :worship:

Willie Harris is now 11/73 (.151) with 19 Ks on the season. He stinks.

WMP now batting an even .200 (24/120) with 5 extra-base hits.

Flores has 14 extra-base hits in 78 ABs.

Just tuned in. What the freak happened? What happened that made us lose by so much to the lone franchise who is as pitiful as us [Giants]?

Flores is ready for the bigs. We need a youth movement.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm watching last night's game and we're up by 2 going into the 9th.

Let's go Rauch! Get yourself a save and secure the curly W!

Is that what we are resorting to now in times of despair? That was a nice win though. Too bad it only counted for one W.  :|
