The visiting dugout batboy in Atlanta looks a little like Matt Cepicky.

29 HR and 103 RBI last year was pretty good, too, for a 22 year old.

His OPS was still almost a 100 points lower than Kearns. Batters can't really control the number of RBIs they get because it depends on other guys getting on base in front of them. I just don't respect a season where a guy gets 29 HRs but only has an OBP of .293.  651 at bats swinging for the fences every time better get you 20+ HRs. I will say he is having a more balanced season this year, but he is just not my kind of player. Not a lot of discipline at the plate and if you're going to be a big swinging corner OFer, I want to see a higher OPS. .729 this season is just not going to cut it.

Is there any way to parlay your blind belief into runs and quality starts?

Do slumps last a season?..NO
Have we gotten out of slumps this season?..YES
Have we seen this team hit this season?..YES
Have we seen quality starts this season?..YES

Believe in your team, people!

Kearns fouls off a lot of good pitches to hit.

6 IP 8 H 2 R 1 ER 1 BB 3 SO 0 HR (0.77 ERA in 2 starts)

It's one thing to believe in your team when they have the potential but let's be realistic. What more do you have to see? I'm not the kind of person that is going to believe we're good just for the sake of believing or because it will make me look like a better fan or because I think it somehow will translate into curly W's. Again, when they start trading blind belief for on field production I'll change my screen name to pollyanna.

Kearns fouls off a lot of good pitches to hit.

Wow that's a new one. I feel that what matters is the outcome of the at bats not the foul balls. :)

I meant that he often misses good pitches to hit. It was not optimistic, it was critical.

It's not about superstition or anything like that. It's about understanding that THIS team is going to struggle at times. But let's not forget about our run after our terrible April. Runs can start at any time and that IS being realistic. Calling our players names and whatnot when they struggle isn't what a "fan" should do, IMO. That's for the bandwagoner's who follow the Yankees to do.

I never will believe we're down and out until the game is over. I've seen enough of this team to believe that they CAN come back and they WILL win games.

You mean like the last 2 nights? I understand that they will struggle. I know the configuration of this team and I get it. And why are you so offended by someone calling them names (not that I've done that) but you just called someone a name a little while ago. But it's no sweat dude. I've dealt with people like you who think you dictate or have the book on what a 'real' fan should be and how they should act (usually they have to conform to the way you are and believe). But speaking of name calling maybe some people take offense to being called a type of bandwagoner like a Yankee fan (I'm not offended by that because I don't give a crap what people call me, I know what kind of fan I am).

Damn they had a chance to pull him and give the reliever ample time to warm up because of injury.
