LOVE the subhorn, but now "Bustin Loose" has a special place in my heart.  Agreed JCA, they need to have the mix of that.

Nats went 5-0 in games Milone started, as well.

i was talking about that game.  he was bad.  yeah i know it was his debut, but it wasn't sharp.  that's expected.  all i care about is on the large scale as you said his numbers were sharp.

i like the kid and he had a solid sampling of a rookie year.

Yea, I should have clarified that I was talking about that specific game- oh well - I would still say trade Peacock, not Milone; and trade Desmond - but that's not gonna happen.......I think we will have Desmond for a long time - a very long time-making all those stupid errors......RATS...

Boz drops the gloves on the tightwads.

The Washington Nationals never really seem to learn. Or, rather, the Lerners don’t. As soon as you think they start to get it, they backslide again.

A timely “yes,” a strong predisposition to trust the recommendations of top executives, is exactly what the Lerners have never provided the Nats. It remains their flaw. It’s always the same: Start from zero and build an ironclad logical case, full of slides and graphics, so Ted will cut the check. Many who’ve worked for the Nats say the same thing, in the same words: their toughest negotiation isn’t with agent Scott Boras but with Ted Lerner.

That's been his standard operating procedure since the Nats returned, reverse course every other column.  He's on fire tonight though.

My fav:

Quote from: Boswell
The other classic snare for owners is to delude themselves that spending huge sums will be much easier — so much “clearer” — in some vague future year when the free agent grass is greener. Most years, the Nats blundered both ways. They’re halfway to doing it again.

Boz isn't in the locker room with him, he hasn't seen Mark's jock strap after taking fly balls with the team.

Yep.  You think Rizzo might have given him some inside info that made Boz change his tune?  Sure sounds like it.  My guess is Rizzo or someone else basically called and told him that the FO wanted to make moves but they were vetoed.

Go for it Boz.  Shame the Lerners in public.  I guarantee they'll see this.

freaking ridiculous. Great article. Can't believe those bastards are doing this to the Nats fan base after giving them some hope after last season. If we don't make any moves and go backwards this year there will be no one to blame but the Ownership.

The Lerners can't hear your words Boz.  They're too busy listening to the cash register chinging in the background.

Perhaps Nationals fans should apply a similarly high threshold of proof before they sign their checks to the team.

The problems with that idea are 1) more than half of the STH base has already done so, dropping as low as it's going to go and 2) the Nats depend more on the Red Loft party scene, the kids zone, and visiting fans than they do on local die hards who actively follow the offseason moves.
