Espinosa is a poor hitter. His fluke hot streak changed nothing. He is having a horrible season offensively. Way too many strikeouts.

Worst loss in 3 years.  Awful.

Wieters is a switch hitter you dumbasses.
Who clubs the ball vs lefties. He was salivating facing Burnett there

But he's MUCH worse batting left handed.  His difference between left and right is bigger than Espinosa's.

Then that's Davey's fault.  You can never hit and run with Espinosa!

Exactly. But that's just my guess since Desmond ran two or three times during that AB.

I wish our offense was at least mediocre...

Gonna be "fun" to see how the % lgavg ranking stacks up at the end of this month.  After seemingly coming to life in May, they've sunk back to near-April levels this month.

The offense deserves major blame too. Only 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings will not cut it. We aren't getting a lot of guys on base and the guys that do get on base aren't being driven in very often.

Espinosa was much more likely to K than DP. Doesn't make very much sense. At least give Ankiel a chance to run into one for the win.

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Friday 24th June 2005 saw the Nats start their RFK series against the Blue Jays (whom we were playing in interleague home-and-away that season since the 2005 schedule was assembled when the club was still in Montreal) with a 3-nil win, Loaiza and three relievers combining on the Nats' fourth shut-out of the season...record now 43-30...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250624120.

You score 5 runs this series ... That's your answer for a series loss.

The rough thing is that they are theoretically capable. Injuries, head games, bad luck, whatever, they're not getting it done. If the team ends up squandering the opportunities they have this season given the amazing rotation, this ends up almost entirely on Davey/Rizzo for not getting the rest of the puzzle in place.

Davey's excuse for bullpen failures several times was that he likes to pitch lefties against lefties and righties against righties.

So this time he pitches lefty against 2 righties and a switch middle of the order late in a 1 run game...

Offense deserves all the blame.  1 run?  5 in the series?

Total blame.

Sometimes the save doesn't happen in the 9th inning.  I wish more managers could see that.

You probably typed that with a straight face. And then:

It's crazier that they've had success in this hitters ballpark.
Orioles fielders lead MLB in Putouts, even though they are dead last with the most Errors and are 29/30 with near-worst fielding %.
