Ok all ... laundry is calling ... another scintillating Saturday night for me - at least Tank jacked his homer - it was fun to have life there for a moment ... you guys have a great night ... see you tomorrow ...

What about making Colome or even Traber a starter? I doubt they'd put Speigner back out there ... whatever little confidence he had has got to be shot by now

That won't happen.  Acta already said Traber won't start.  Speigner pitched a 4-inning shutout, if his fielders had only bothered to catch 2 fly balls that were 2 feet away from them.  Zimmerman's inability to make throws prolonged the first inning rally.  Love the Web Gem highlights, but he needs to drill, drill drill on his throws, because a LOT of them STINK.

Speigner only gave up a single in the 4th, but no more runs.  The 2nd and 3rd innings were 1-2-3.  He was at 80 pitches, but only thanks to the incompetence of his 1st inning fielders.  Acta knows he could have gotten 5 or 6 innings, so this was an improved performance.  I have hope for him now, until our starters return, although they said San Diego was now the worst hitting team in MLB before tonight.

Very interesting. Josh Wilson is starting for Tampa tonight, and is 2 for 3. His season average has skyrocketed to .391!

If you take Zim, Guz, and Young out of our starting lineup, the rest of the starters went a combined 1/16.

Having Flores/Belliard (He better start for Felipe) in the lineup should help.  Simontacchi needs to give us 6-7 good innings if we want a chance.

When I've seen the last of Home Run (Ray) King in a Nationals uniform, it won't be soon enough.  It would save on the cost of his extra-extra large laundry too.

Padres 11
Nationals Disgrace 3

Ya, Belly better start. I don't care for who. I would even give my boy Z-Man a rest in favor of Belly. I'm guessing he'll start @ 1B tomorrow and give Young a rest.

Young now hitting .331, 5th in the NL

edit: And then Kearns Ks on a meat fastball.  As hot as Guzman and Young have been, Felipe and Austin have been as equally as AWFUL.
