The Marlins have won the last five series between the NL East rivals, including the first two of 2007, but are on the verge of ending that streak after being shut out for the first time this season. They tied their season high with three errors and will look for a better effort Saturday with Ricky Nolasco  (1-1, 7.30 ERA) on the mound.

The right-hander is trying to rebound from his worst outing of the season. He gave up six runs and 10 hits over six innings - all season highs - in a 6-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.

Washington will counter with Matt Chico (2-4, 6.03), who is trying to avoid his third straight defeat. The rookie left-hander allowed three runs and eight hits over seven innings while striking out five on Monday, but didn't get any support in a 3-0 loss to Milwaukee.

He threw 68 of his 93 pitches for strikes in his longest start of the season.

why does Manny have to tamper with the lineup? Belly should be @ 1st and Nook should be in CF.

Is anyone else as pumped as I am for this game after last night, or are you too jaded by experience?

ya, looks like it. I'm one of the few people in Buffalo that could careless about the Sabre game. Hockey sucks imo. So instead of being glued to the tv watching the game, ill be glued to the computer following the Nats quest for their 1st series win!

Agree with you about hockey; only got in to it one year while I was living in NY and the Rangers won.Are you watching on MLB.com, or doing gameday?

this is setting up to be a night where Chico pitches a gem but doesn't get any run support.

This is one of the once/week times I can watch the game on local tv over the air and post on the forum at the same time, as the MASN games are upstairs on the satellite.

wow, thats a huge confidence boost for Chico. Striking out one of the most feared hitters in baseball to end the threat.
