On Friday, Perez pitched well against the Cubs, giving up two runs in six
innings, but he ended up with his third no-decision of the season, as the
bullpen was unable to protect a 3-2 lead. With the bases loaded in the
eighth, left-hander Mike O'Connor walked pinch-hitter Matt Murton to force
home Aramis Ramirez and tie the score at 3.

Dealing with baserunners on an inning-to-inning basis is not going to change
with Duke, whose game is making hitters put the ball in play. However, in
each of his last two starts, the balls have been finding the holes, and those
baserunners have been scoring. After giving up nine hits and six runs in his
last start (six innings), opponents are now hitting .344 against the lefty,
who is struggling to get his pitches down.

Both starters a combined 0-5.  Don't expect a pitcher's duel by any means :D

We do have a way of making the worst look like the best, though. :?

Nieves is behind the plate so Perez will have a great game! Or does that only work for Lannan?  Guess we'll find out.

My prediction: Washington 7, Pittsburgh 3. Perez picks up his first win after six innings of 2-run ball, after Washington does something it rarely seems to do these days - score in the first inning.

Zimmerman will crush Duke, that's for sure. Duke has pretty good stuff, but he misses A LOT...and he's a lefty.

I don't care how they do it, I want the Nats to provide a Curly W. Again. Tonight.

And I hope my father and grandfather have fun at the game. :)

Wow. Great news about Dmitri.  The massage therapist worked on his hip yesterday and all of a sudden he feels GREAT.  He took BP after the game last night and Bowden said he hit like nothing had ever been wrong with him.  He's heading down to Viera to start playing in rehab games.

Lo Duca is getting the call tomorrow.

Nice offspeed pitch. McLouth is tough. He's hitting .324 off of lefties this season.

Guzman is no longer making solid contact. He's rolling over a lot of balls lately.

frustrating.  Why do we hit so many weak balls on the ground to the left side?
