knew Rizzo should have signed Crawford not Werth.

How is the sub .400 OPS sitting with the hubsters?

Best use of smilies ever.  Enjoy the winning now because this one looks grim tonight.  Any word on the availability of LaRoche and Morse for tonight?

Nix batting 5th.

Ramos to the bench after another beastly performance. :FAIL:

Yet Pudge is hitting .400 against Doc in his career - I'm as big an advocate as the next guy of keeping Ramos full time in the lineup, but historically, Pudge owns Doc, and he's a stud defensively, to boot. Yeah he grounds into a crapton of DPs, but he still brings something to the table. Just for food thought. :)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  This is the one game I don't mind Pudge in.

Jayson Werth bats .333/.429/.917 (1.345 OPS) with 4 HR in 24 AB against John Lannan. Chase Utley bats .440/.548/.720 (1.268 OPS) with 2 HR in 25 AB against John Lannan. Without those 2, the Phillies lineup isn't scary at all.

<sarcasm>It's important for the young guys to experience the aura of veteran presence in the lineup. Espinosa, Ramos, and Zimmerman are clearly leading the team's offense due to the continued exposure to seeing the likes of Hairston, Cora, and Pudge fail at the plate and botch plays in the field. It helps make them understand how to play the game the right way. </sarcasm>

How much of Pudge's offensive history is relevant to 2011?  I think there is a tendency to overvalue those matchup numbers a bit, and in Pudge's case he's clearly not the player he was 5 or 10 years ago.

He did pretty well opening day last year against Halladay. It seems a better day to go with Pudge than yesterday or tomorrow.
