Great inning for Shell, exactly what I wanted to see from him.

Shell vindicated himself in that outing.

And I know this isn't the right thread but Marvin Lawrence continues to kick butt.  His OPS .872 between A-Potomac and AA-Harrisburg.  It's @ .902 up in AA.  20 homers on the year, a combined .275, 63 rbis ... not bad.

Very little impact. This game is about players. Otherwise we could have Eckstein and a bunch of AAAA bums and still get the results we're getting now. Hitting instruction has its impact at the lower levels.

I agree with you that there is very little impact, but I think it is more important for a team like ours that is so young it could be a lower level team.

I love Shell.  So much movement on his pitches.  Hopefully he's a keeper.

They should have started him out there, IMO.  Glad to see that he is going to finish things off there at least.

He also should be starting out there, IMO.

Easy, easy. It's just 1 outing with a 4-run cushion. He better get the job done in that situation. I hope Manny continues to throw him out there in close situations to see if we got a legit reliever or not.

Roger's back! He kicked so much ass with Columbus after being sent down. He hit .351 there.

I can't bicker with that. I especially think it's critical with a guy like Milledge who apparently didn't have much hitting instruction growing up. Still, their impact is minor in general.

Yeah, his season ERA and WHIP are terrible. It's just today that he did well. Dude, stop picking favorites and least favorites.

Agreed and I don't see this production continuing too much longer.  Although, there does seem to be distinctive difference in the demeanor of the club, for whatever reason.  That, more than anything, will help them finish off the season pretty strong.... I think/hope.

28,393 in attendance. Wow, that's a little weak.

Weak as hell. I've lost interest in going to games this season. I'm actually turning my focus to football in the next 48 hours or so.

It's not picking favorites, it's having a feel for how good pitchers are or aren't. Maybe I'm wrong. who knows.

At this level managing and coaching is overrated. See Joe Torre and Bobby Cox and let's not forget how Leo Mazzone forgot how to coach pitchers when he left Atlanta. :?

I've been rejuvenated by this recent winning streak. And now with the Sept. call-ups up it will make it more interesting. Hopefully the last month will be enjoyable.

I'm excited for NFL football but I've soured big time in my excitement for the Redskins.

Yeah there are guys out there that are just as good as the talent they have, but we can't discredit the fact that there could be coaches out there that actually DO have an impact.  It would be a hard process to discern which ones they are, though.  By no means are coaches/instructors a cure all.

Colome with a 4-run lead? I don't get why they are giving that bum responsibility all of a sudden. I'd rather see Levale or Hinckley or hell put in Joel.
