From Zuckerman:

That's not good news. I would rather have learned that he was pulled in order to get traded.

Who needs prospects when you can trot out Chico and a 6.00+ ERA every 5th day!
what?

He posted a 4.64 ERA in his rookie season in '07.

For those going tonight:Yahoo! Weather says 'Variable clouds with thunderstorms, especially early. A few storms may be severe early. Low 69F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.'

...and 60% chance of rain tomorrow and Thursday too, all through the Reds series...BLAST IT ALL WHEN ARE WE GOING TO CATCH A BREAK FROM THE WEATHERMAN...ISN'T IT BAD ENOUGH JUST TO HAVE A LOSING TEAM?

One hell of a storm rolled through northern Frederick county about an hour ago.  It got as dark as it would be at 9:00 pm and rained like crazy with penny sized hail.

A rain delay wouldn't be the worst thing ever so we can fully focus on the draft before we turn out attention to the future Nats if Bowden were still here Reds.

And this from Chico:

Also, Manny Acta said today that Josh Willingham (viral infection) should be back in the lineup tomorrow. And when he returns, he'll be (drumroll...) in rightfield. He, not Austin Kearns, will get most of the plate appearances. And Adam Dunn, who has been shuffled around, will now be playing strictly in left.

The news with Jordan Zimmermann is a bit disconcerting, but for now, the team is insisting there's no concern. The rookie starter felt some elbow soreness during his bullpen session on Friday. But he's scheduled to pitch now on Saturday. Basically, he's skipping one turn in the rotation. Mark Viera, who spoke to Zimmermann today, will have a bit more later on tonight.

This is precisely why pitchers are risky. Who is the poster who has been saying for months that it's not a good idea to draft Strasburg because most, if not all, pitchers selected number 1 overall have not worked out?

whoever said we are toast earlier in this thread because Cueto is pitching is right. Man he is having a great season. Goes 7 innings in almost every start.

this game should be a laugher.

Everythings fine. Im sure of JZ starting Saturday. Going to be quite the adventure seeing Willingham in right though.

Meh, he'll be as brutal there as he is in left.

Per Charlie Slowes and Dave Jageler just now - tarp is down on the infield, no word as yet on when they'll finally start. Here in south Arlington we're still getting some rain and occasional thunder/lightning - and that's why I'm not at the ballpark tonight (have to go into work at 06.00 each weekday - rain delays on weeknights are a luxury I really can't afoord - so I'm letting Messrs Slowes and Jageler deliver my baseball fix for this evening).

UPDATE AT 19.05: MLB.com auto-refreshing scoreboards (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/20090609.html) now announce 'delayed start - rain' - no word from the radio broadcast as yet of a possible start time.

I think they may be a while - Slowes will be taking call-ins and E-mails. (Meanwhile, the Orioles-Mariners match at Preparation H Park at Camden Yards, scheduled to start the same time as ours, is now underway after a brief rain delay.)

Yeah, just waiting for the bulk of this system to blow through and become the scattered shower before heading down to the park. Hope they can get it in. Nice to be able to catch some of the draft coverage.

Slowes just now: looks like they're going to be in rain delay for quite a while yet; storm system moving slowly (if at all) and rain still falling steadily; Orioles match at Baltimore now back in rain delay as well.

Since Baltimore announced a 7:21 pm start, and lightning in DC, I benched Nick-at-Nite and started Aubrey Huff.  That game in Balimore just had a fan stick a baseball cap INSIDE the GLOVE of the Seattle outfielder, catching it, and causing a home run.  They reviewed it and called it OUT by interference. They OUGHT to eject the idiot fan, or at least tar-and-feather him.
