I wouldn't call him a cokehead - a lot of that was rumors. He probably did use it at least once, but it's still mostly speculation. He also said he was sick before that interview. I'm not denying that he had red flags from NFL coaches, but I don't think he should have dropped as far as he did. They weren't issues that couldn't be resolved.

What about Weeden? I think he could be an impact QB out of the box. I don't think age will be a huge factor for him either.

The knock against him is that he was a spread QB, and that as you mentioned, he's like 26 years old. I would take him if I were bad team at the start of the 3rd round or something.

Weeden was on the Yankees Gulf Coast team with Tyler Clippard.  Clipp tweeted out to him last year.

What if the Skins don't take RG3? Do you think Skins fans would tear down the stadium?

Pretty much, well, unless the Colts end up taking RGIII first overall and we end up with Luck. I think there's about a .01% chance that happens, but who knows.

Then you mean 2 extra. If he fails, we can't even start over until 2015. Any big weapons on offense now have to come through free agency (unless you expect a blackmon to slip to the third), the same holds for cb given how early the elite ones go now. It's a return to Vinny ball

Look at it this way, would you have given the rams Kerrigan Orakpo Williams and Davis for the pick?

But you're assuming those other players we would have drafted this year and the next two years would have panned, not the case. Of course not, but I would have given them Campbell, Rogers and Landry. You see, it can work either way. You're assuming he's going to fail, which rightful he could, I'm not taking that away from you, I've felt the same way, but on the other hand, what if he works? You're talking about a QB for the next 10 possibly 15 years if he can hold up strong. Then in hindsight, it was a great move.

I'm not one of these fans who's going to talk Super Bowl all because of one player, the Redskins still have A LOT of holes to fill, which they did help make bigger by trade those two future first, but it's something that had to be made. Gambling is a big part of the draft, we both know this.

Look at Strasburg. We were warned by how many about his mechanics? Did we listen? Nope. Then look what happened. Still a beast though!

I think Griffin has more to prove than fail. I don't think he'll be like he was during his senior year, but more something close to his junior year.

not a fair comparison, a single starting pitcher is less critical to the overall success of the team than a QB.   The stats show you need a top 10 QB to win a SB (with a few rare exceptions).

Last 5 SBs:
12: Eli vs. Brady
11: Rodgers vs. Ben
10: Brees vs. Peyton
09: Ben vs. Warner
08: Eli vs. Brady

Yeah, there is the occasional Grossman that gets to the big game, but those are few and far between.

I'm not the one who brought him up. I just think the haul is ridiculous. Even in your list you have a 7th rounder, a number 11 over all, a number 24 over all, and a second rounder vs. the two mannings as top picks.

Brady was a 6th, not a 7th.

the point still stands, we're giving up the largest haul since Hershel Walker for the second best qb in the draft

That's not a fair way to put it; if RG3 is a franchise quarterback, the deal will work out for them. I'm not a big fan of the deal just because I'm not as certain of Griffin's success as others are, but if he becomes a top 10 QB, it's a fair deal.

I would add that if tannehill or any other qb from this becomes a franchise qb, or if next year's pick is good enough to get us a franchise QB, it's not worth it. I think that if everything pans out and griffen leads us on multiple playoff runs then it's a great deal, but he's a big 12 qb from a spread system, I have my doubts; I would have felt far better if this haul got us luck

Wasn't Sam Bradford a Big 12 qb from a spread offense? He's been beaten up pretty bad, but I think the kid can play.

Moss to San Fran. Am I wrong in thinking that this has disaster written all over it? Moss will eventually get frustrated with San Fran's conservative offense. I'm not even sure that Alex Smith can throw the long ball.

1 year deal, probably incentive laden, no real downside if it doesn't work out.

My thoughts too. Plus, perhaps the reason for bringing him in is to open up the offense some. Harbaugh clearly can coach and if he can get Moss to buy into what he's selling, the combination of Crabtree, Davis and Moss could be nasty.

Smart move for both parties.
