Now their two best contact hitters get a chance to take the lead with a single..  This game should not be close if we had done all of the little things right.  Our offense can't hit with RISP, Bergmann had Utley down 0-2 with 2 outs and then he imploded, Young can't even make sure his foot is on the bag when getting the throw from Zim.  These things seem minor at the time but they always come back to haunt you.

Couldn't Bergmann have gone another inning? Show some faith in the guy he's pitched so well the last few starts.

I agree. The last time Bergam pitched, against Philadelphia incidentally, he pitched well for 6 innings and was right at 100 pitches. My brother and I looked at each other and felt he had had a good postive outing and should've been pulled. He came back out and got hit hard. Tonight I felt he should've stayed in and gotten a shot to finish another inning but Acta felt differently. However, it's all about execution. Rivera blew it. I'm not a believer in Rivera one bit. Maybe we should reconsider the Ray King deal...  :?

They took him out too soon last time too.  He's never going to learn to give 7 innings if he never does it.

Let's all give Rivera a hand, minus a few digits.

the bottom line is: we are not a good team. we lack fundamentals - especially at the plate. and we certainly dont have a winning instinct. lets hope that we will develop some fundamentally sound talent down in the minors - then we can start competing

He gave himself a shot of insulin.  He's diabetic.  The Metssucks Law of Averages says he's due to hit a homer...

i have to dissagree with you with the winning instinct. theses guys wouldnt be in the majors if they didnt have the winning instinct.

And another pathetic showing from the Nats' offense.  When will this team ever just break out and score 7+ runs on a given night or even score 4-5+ runs a game consistently?
