Why we never gave up a chance to whitesell? Yes we have alot of 1b' s in the system but you cant deny his power and patience. He is doing pretty fine in AAA this season.

They didn't want to get rid of him, they tried to pass him through waivers but the Yankees grabbed him.  In hindsight, a huge blunder by Bowden.

The Yankees exposed him last off season and nobody bit. Sometimes you can't get everybody you want on the 40 man.

Yeah, but Bowden said something arrogant like, "Darrell Rasner will never amount to anything in the major leagues anyway."  He clearly didn't value having Rasner in this organization, and for that, he has some serious egg on his face at the moment.

I'm just saying that every team ends up exposing players. Generally it's the scouts that determine who stays and who goes. It isn't like he's Johan Santana or Josh Hamilton.

Braves Purchase Brian Lawrence's Contract

32 year-old righty Brian Lawrence made six starts for the Mets last year and 16 in Triple A.  He'd missed all of '06 due to rotator cuff and labrum surgery.  Before that, he'd been a useful innings eater.

This year Lawrence found himself playing independent ball for the Camden Riversharks playing alongside familiar names such as Ryan Drese and Jamal Strong.  He posted a 3.21 ERA in eight starts.  Today, the Braves purchased Lawrence's contract and assigned him to Triple A.

Screw that guy. Oh, I hurt myself during warm up. It started just now, I promise. Right.

Jose Guillen's been playing like a superstar lately. He hit a tiebreaking homer off of Mariano Rivera today.

He's got 4 HRs and 10 RBIs in his last 3 games. That's more than our outfield has done collectively in a month.

Not good. Didn't Edmonds miss a couple of months with the same problems.

He missed about a month back in '06. Probably screwed the rest of his career.

The fellow we traded for Elijah Dukes, Glenn Gibson, is still at A ball for Tampa Bay. He has a 1-7 record and a 7.24 ERA, with 51 innings over 11 starts and a total of 41 ERs, 24 BB's and 31 K's. His hits per 9 innings is at 11 and his WHIP is 1.65. He's only 20, though.

If Bowden knows anything at all, it's trades.

I've been harping on it - Schneider's slugging is just awful. He caught Wuss Arm from JP. People were crying like babies to get him back. Milledge+Flores >>>> Church+Schneider
