Per twitter and mlbtr, neither the dodgers or yankees offered arb to a single player.

The Marlins did not offer arbitration to Type B free agents Kiko Calero and Nick Johnson, nor did they offer to Brendan Donnelly or Ross Gload

I believe that was for players that were FA eligible. Arbi eligible deadline is the first week of January, I believe.

why? Braves needed a closer.

Wagner wants to win and with that rotation they have a good chance to do so.

They offered arbitration to both of their current closers.

The Braves somehow get older.  That team is ancient.  They have a ton of money bottle up in Lowe, Kawasaki, and Wagner.

Trade could be in the works, or they could be crippled by a super-expensive BP and have to trade us Vazquez for nothing.

I was hoping we would sign and trade Wagner.

Interesting tidbit from the article: FA arbitration deals are non-guaranteed. So why no just cut the guy if he accepts.

I don't think you can sign a player and then trade them. I think you have to wait at least till July or so.

That was my idea. But that may only be for a multiyear deal anyway, not sure.

Looks like Figgins to the Mariners.  Tough loss for the Angels.

That's a good pick up for the Mariners. I wonder if Wakamatsu has the stones to move Suzuki out  of the lead off spot.

Baseball This Morning's hosts were talking about Jason Bay to the Mariners is a very real possibility as well.  Mariners could be players in the American League next year with a pitcher or two.
