Some good news...NFL training camps start soon. I can't wait for football season. Course that might not be good news for you Redskin fans.

Can we develop a "plan" to construct an average baseball team?  A World Series is far too much to ask for but an average team should be doable.

...and, it should be the publicly stated goal!  Don't even put up the pretense of trying to build a winner!

the offense once again non-existent.

The young starting pitching has been awesome lately. They have given us a chance in each of these games against TB and NYY. Too bad we have no offense and our bullpen (Ron Villone) sucks.

It's why the team should not shy away from trading the vets. Any vets (i.e. guys in FA parts of their careers) should be unloaded. The question is whether the owners are willing to do what it takes to acquire quality talent. They have failed for 3 years to do the right thing. Will they do it now? This team could have easily been completely different with proper focus from Lerner/Kasten. They have failed. If they want to admit that and start over, I'm all for it. But they have to stop freaking around and make the moves that anyone in their position would be willing to do. The MLB ownership excuse is no longer valid. I would have put together a contender by now.

The problem with that is, how do you attract talent if they know that they might be swept up in a veteran dump if another season turns ugly?  This would be an even worse place for free agents.
