That split the middle of the plate and was chest high. Perfect

Because he clearly got his foot down? :)

Sure, but the tag looked like a safer bet.  He was already in a good position for it,  and you know the ump's gonna be looking for it on a play like that.  Instead he deliberately avoided making the tag.

Detwiler isn't going to have a very long day.

Thank goodness for EJax yesterday saving the pen.

Some of these umpires/crews are pretty mediocre.

You're being much too generous.

Right, but it should be doable to work out some average numbers by "position" so to speak.

I guess if you went to each team, ranked the number of starts, knocking out the top four guys for each team. The fifth guy's numbers would be the ones added to the pool from everyone in the league. If two players have similar start #s at that spot, then you average it. Too much work to pinpoint it so...

I'll mindfact at 4.50-5.00 ERA.

There's no guarantee he would have gotten that call either.  Clearly the umpire wasn't paying attention.

96 mph fastball right in the middle of Gameday's strike zone, ruled a ball.

Yeah, I guess, but seriously, this is Magic Glove™. He should get the benefit of the doubt. ;)

Wow that fastball was clearly in the zone, even the Reds TV crew is puzzled.
