and yet is still a better option at 2B than espinosa.  so is Kobernus.

Jeezus.  at least promote him to Syracuse.

AA is where most top prospects play nowadays it seems. AAA is more for AAAA players and rehab assignments.

Consider the source, but FP (or maybe it was Bob) claims Rizzo wants Rendon in AA because that's where all the hard throwers are - and that eventually he'll move up to AAA to face guys who lean on off-speed stuff to get hitters out.

That's a reasonable plan, just like the plan, last year, to keep Harper at Syreacuse until mid-season. Sometimes, though, "fate intervenes" (my rusty memory of a Claude Rains line in "Casablanca").

My only quibble: Rendon does not look like the scrambling sure-glove fielder that both Espi and Lombo are already. When Rendon played 3B, I kept seeing balls scorched and thinking, Zimmerman would have gotten that. Still, the Nats are dying for hitters.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT promote Rendon unless he is going to play every day.

Absolutely. The kid played about one month last season. He needs the work. Should not come to DC and pinch-hit.

Rendon with hr #6 so far tonight. He would really look good batting 2nd for the Nats.

No, this team is going to magically start hitting better without him, because as long as we have blind faith and Natitude what happened last year is destined to repeat itself.

Ken Rosenthal:

http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/mlbbuzz/article/rendon_red_hot_at_double_a/13661692?new_post=true

Quote
The obvious conclusion, now that Ryan Zimmerman is back playing third, is that the Nationals might be grooming Rendon to take over for Espinosa at second. But manager Davey Johnson said that the team is not yet considering such a plan.

“We like him – we like him a lot,” Johnson said of Rendon. “But putting him at second at the major-league level, he’s not there yet. He’s not (playing second) specifically. He’s just occasionally going over there.”

Rendon indeed has played only four games at second at Double A, along with one at shortstop and 23 at third. Johnson said that both Lombardozzi and Triple A infielder Zach Walters rank ahead of him as candidates to replace Espinosa, if the Nats were to make such a move.

But Espinosa, Lombardozzi and Walters aren’t hitting.

Rendon is.

What the hell is wrong with this organization, it's like they are afraid of success, first they shut down Stras, now they're keeping Rendon off the team in favor of Espinosa?  Espinosa?  What has he done to earn such an honor, I understand respecting a vet like Zimmerman, but Espinosa's just another guy who worked his way up the ranks and then couldn't make it at the highest level.

If this team isn't hitting on Friday there will be boos.

He's played in 74 minor league games and has only had 242 ABs. I think they want to give him a workout down in the minors before sending him up to major leagues.

at some point you have to say, well ya know what, it's worth the risk.

this guy obviously was highly touted and has a lot of college accolades.  all he has done in the minors is hit.

is anyone saying if he were to come up here he'd be the savior right away?  no.  but he gives a competent bat in the line-up.
