Even the Marlins have one.

Who cares. They don't hand out true fan cards anywhere unless I'm mistaken.

The more fans, the better for the organization, sport, etc.

Yankees have bandwagon fans too. Every fan base does.!

Didn't you get your card in the mail?

ONE?  Who is it?

Bandwagon fans are fans that can't name more than 2 people on the team yet buy any merchandise with their emblem on it (cough, Yankee fans).

They  had plenty of them when they went to the world series.

They look more like the invitation I received to become a "True Fan" than the actual card I received later.

When Harper is wearing another uniform some of the bandwagon will go with him.

The term "Bandwagon Fan" is what turned me into a Buccaneers fan in the 1980's.  I was tired of being accused of jumping on the "bandwagon" of a good team (Redskins) even though they had been my favorite team.  So I consciously picked the worst team in the league one year and decided I was a fan of theirs - hence the Bucs.

Now that I'm not an insecure 14 year-old, the term bandwagon fan doesn't bother me.  Seems adolescent (at best) in its accusation.  Therefore, HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

And freak anyone else who hates bandwagon fans.  Grow up.

Allen led the charge, but Lombardi broke new ground

well Tom we debated this a few years ago.  My view is that Lombardi was a fraud.

Two? Unless you can name the 25-name roster, you are a bandwagon fan.

A team less than a generation old will be gathering fans. You can't expect this level of knowledge from a new team's fan base.

Bandwagoners are OK by me as long as they know their role.

Interesting. Can you elucidate your view? As an "old timer" you probably have insight that is lost on the modern fan.

Are you suggesting such an expectation (or any other arbitrary criteria to determine "real" fans) would be reasonable for a fan base that's been around for multiple generations?  ;)

If it wasn't obvious, I was mocking those that have a need for rigid and self-serving definition of what a fan is. I'm with you in the the belief that a fan is a fan is a fan. Don't care if you've been cheering since the Senators days or just started cheering because you like Bryce Harper. I welcome one and all.

The only fans in have a problem with are the ones who are Heat 49ers/Ravens (they'll decide tomorrow)  Alabama fans.  If you stick to a team great if you only care when your local team is winning fine,  but don't pick and choose the best teams to follow

Oh, you know Ray.  Ever since he got quoted on Baseball Prospectus he's in love with his own judgement a little too much.

Well, if you are old enough, you might remember a guy is on the roster but his "Name? oh, wait a second, I just started a thread on him, give me minute, we drafted him in '08 . . ."
