Wait wait wait.

So you're saying that I could upload some crappy 64kbps 3rd-generation rip of a song and iCloud would automatically give me the full high quality iTunes version? :|

Surely they have some way of checking "legitness" if they're doing that.

I wouldn't upload any music I had obtained illegitimately to any of these sources, but I buy all my music

Who says it's illegitimate?  If I own the CD and it's buried in the attic somewhere and I've format-shifted a few times, the scenario I listed is both legit and entirely plausible.

Shame on you for ASSuming :nono:

@Nathan,

Zune Pass is still one of the best music deals anywhere  :mg:

Half of my stuff is torrented because I was too lazy to actually rip each cd

That's because I am a saint :halo:

But not everyone would be so scrupulous

Seriously though, if what Nathan says is true, they must have some kind of method of authentication.  But I honestly can't imagine how that would work.  I just have a hard time imagining that the big four labels have gotten so desperate that they'll happily accept a cut of $25/yr per person for theoretically unlimited music.

I received my Music invite on Tuesday - and started it up right away.

Loading music from home and accessing it elsewhere, I'm at 15,452 files and counting...

Check the sweet Google doodle for today.  It's a guitar you can play.

And you can record and playback the doodle tune too.  That square at the bottom is a record button.

If you go into your google settings and turn off instant search, you can use the keyboard.

Ordered another Nook Color to hack with CM7. My girlfriend kept stealing my tablet.

I don't know how many will be left but Overstock had refurbs at $185.

In the final check out page, use coupon code: 207397.

Is it really worth it? It's got POS hardware, right?

I really like it but I think part of it for me is being away from "the computer"; after a day in the office I hate being by a laptop. Twitter is ten times better. Easier for Facebook, showing photos, reading internet heavy content that kindle cannot handle, etc. It isn't perfect by any means but it is quite good. Enough so that I forgotten about an iPad.

I will revisit this opinion when I can get my hands on a HP Touchpad. If it is as synchronized as promised, I might be tempted to switch over for unified notifications and seemless transition from phone, tablet, laptop. Granted my work is moving me to a Palm Pre and HP Elitebook so there is a unified front there.

Maybe I did something wrong but when I played with a Nook Color for a few days I was grossly underwhelmed.  The hardware is nowhere near as nice or as smooth/fast as my Galaxy S cell phone, to say nothing of an iPad.  CM7 didn't help, either.

That said, I get where Obed is coming from.  I use my phone instead of my laptop quite often now for basic online reading.  News feeds, WNFF, mlb.com, etc.

You used nightly 7 :lmao: it's much more polished now.

What did you expect for $250?

For it to run like an 800mhz version of my phone, which is what it is, CPU-wise.  It definitely doesn't even come close to that level of performance.  Or at least didn't when I had one.  Like I said, I fully admit that I didn't spend that much time with it, but it made enough of an impression that I wouldn't bother with one again.

Your phone is what, $500-600?  I'm not saying it's a screamer, but for a $250 tablet, it does ok.  I'd still rather have an iPad if they were the same price :P

I'd rather have a Kindle and one of those EEE tablets, might as well get a device that's the best at it's designed purpose.
