well he gave up a line drive solo homer ... so now you can say he hasn't been pitching good.

of course it doesn't ... it has to be one of your boys for that kind of line to sound good.

i'm listening and the pbp guy just said bally hasn't been that bad.  and when did i say good?!?!
You said "decent," which is an absolute joke. 3 runs in 3 innings is not "decent."

again were you listening?  2 runs came in off a bloop broken bat single.  he ended up getting pounded and will need to work on a lot of things before he makes it back to the bigs ... but he was pitching decent.

You could make similar excuses for Shairon Martis's last start, where his line was exactly the same in terms of runs/innings, but you've chosen to lambaste him for that. The inconsistency is amusing is all...

i never hated on martis, i just don't know how sf gives him a free pass while he elects to reem others.  again it's the same thing with the d-crab vs. marlins ... he was pitching okay and gives up a bases clearing double to uggla and sf destroys him.  two nights later in atlanta, martis was sharp then makes one mistake.  again it's gotta be both ways.

balester went 5.2 ip and gave up 6 runs ... that's not a good start and i'm the first one to admit it.  but at the point i posted his line earlier he was doing an okay job and like i said he gave up 2 runs on a broken bat single.

i'm done arguing on this ... i like sportsfan he's a good kid.

moving on ... p-nats down 9-4 in the 6th, senators tied 1-1 in the 6th (o'connor pitching well).

Martis didn't get a chance to complete his outing because of the rain. Martis is also young and is still pretty raw.

D-Crab has been pitching in the Majors for years. he should be better.

It's not that I'm sticking up for d-cab, it could be anyone out there.  It's just you find constant ways to nitpick and nag at players you don't like. You make it out to be that certain players just b/c a poster sticks up for their performance/track record that they are in love with them or that one of us thinks that that player is a savior.  And then when someone says something about you and nieves/flores/bernadina/etc you get defensive.

I hope Martis does well and I think he will do.  I don't want to see a 3-run bomb after a meeting from the pitching coach though.

I don't want to see a pitching coach call for a fastball right down the pipe after a mound visit

But as Mick Jagger once said: "You can't always get what you want."

Sucks that Hagerstown had their game rained out.  I was really looking forward to McGeary's start.

again yeah i'm sure randy st. claire came out and said: "hey shairon, you've got two on and a 2-0 count, just throw this boring fastball about right here just a tad below the letters to a guy who usually has trouble hitting stuff low and away."

yeah me too ... this rain crap has to stop.  i wonder if mcgeary gets the call tomorrow.

freak you Mock. he's letting the fact that he didn't make the 25 man roster affect his performance down in Syracuse. he's sulking. Tonight he gave up 2 walks, 3 HBPs, and a wild pitch all in one inning.

look at his last two appearances:

4/12: 0.0 IP 1 H 3 R 3 ER 3 BB 0 K
4/15: 1.0 IP 1 H 4 R 4 ER 2 BB 0 K 3 HBP

Potomac Game Tonight (4/15):

-  Atwell was bad again in this start.  He was trying to keep his pitches down, but he was doing it too well.  A lot of his pitches ended up in the dirt.  Luckily, Peacock was able to stop a lot of them.

-  Marrero didn't have a very good day at first base.  He let a foul ball land behind him in the first.  Then a few pitches later, he let a pop up fall between him and Dan Nelson.  He wasn't helped by Stephen King either, who kept putting balls out of Marrero's reach throughout the game.  In the end, Marrero wasn't charged with a single error, but he didn't play the position well today.  Espinosa on the other hand, had at least two great plays at SS that the P-Nats was raving about.

-  Danny Espinosa and Chris Marrero are battlers at the plate.  Each saw at least 5 pitches in 3 out of 4 of their at-bats.  They both combined for 3 walks.  I think it is a mistake to have Burgess batting third and Marrero batting fifth behind King.  I think a line up of Espinosa -> Marrero --> Burgess --> King would work much better, especially the way Potomac has been leaving batters on base.

-  Boomer Whiting has some serious speed.  He led the P-Nats last season in steals and can be a potent force if he gets on base.  He should get more opportunities to lead off in the future.

-  Trent Jewett went to his go to play again in the 3rd inning, the double steal to home.  Except only this time it was actually a triple steal with Dan Nelson stealing home first, and then Boomer Whiting and Michael Burgess stealing the bases behind him.  Nelson easily beat the pitch home and was safe before the catcher even had the ball in his mitt.  Espinosa also swiped his third bag of the season.

-  None of the pitchers that came out in relief (Severino, Martinez, Leatherman) had good days.  Each had control issues, especially with allowing walks and hitting batters.  None of them were good with runners on base.  Salem has some good players on their team, but there is no reason they should have allowed so many hits and runs.  The two players at the top of the order had only had 3 hits between them to begin the season.  These two guys were able to get a combined 4 hits off our guys today.  No doubt they will probably be on fire tomorrow.

I'll be at either the Opener or the Sunday game vs. Myrtle Beach, but I am definitely going to check them out this weekend.
