NFL Conference Championships Predictions Thread
« Topic Start: January 16, 2007, 04:19:24 PM »
New Orleans Saints @ Chicago Bears
New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts

7-1.....2k6nats
7-1.....Vladman1327
6-2.....Kenz aFan
6-2.....nats2playoffs
5-3.....Nat of the LivingDead
5-3.....sportsfan882
4-4.....The Chief
4-4.....Senators2005
4-2.....Nats19
3-5.....Dave B
3-1.....Ali the Baseball Cat
2-2.....ColtonWillems

My predictions:  The Saints just have too much of a dynamic offense to lose this week, although they just barely etched a win out vs. the Eagles last week.  The Patriots and Tom Brady are just too good in the playoffs to bet against, and they just beat the Chargers, so the Colts should be a walk in the park.  Add that to the fact that the Colts scored NO touchdowns, and relied on Adam Vinateiri's right leg.

Saints over Bears
Patriots over Colts

Saints - Again, they have something to fight for.  They will pull it off a la the Detriot Tigers and be the underdog that became a swan in a close game against the Bears.

Colts - Their time has come.  The Pats will want it but this year they won't be able to take it.  Their luck and last second field goals will not help them this time.

so tough...I really wanna take the saints...but its in Chicago....Grossman looked pretty good last week....if they can pressure Brees they might be able to force some turnovers.......man its tough......

Chicago (just to be different)

AFC game...it was more of SD losing that game than the Pats winning it (Marty screwed it up big time), colts at home.....colts d playing really well....in the dome, where colts d likes it....

*flips a coin twice*

Bears vs Patriots.  George has spoken.

No my name isn't George.  I was referring to Mr. Washington.

Unfortunately, in a cruel twist of fate, Adam Vinateiri kicks the game winning field goal as time expires and Bill Belichick realizes that he let the real playoff MVP of the team go to the enemy:  Colts 22 - Patriots 20.

The other game?

Since neither of the two leaders took Da Bears, I'll take Da Bears to beat Da Saints.  Turnovers and special teams.
I'll take Da Colts over The Patriots.  Despite the NFL ALWAYS scheduling Indianapolis to play AT New England, the Patriots finally have to travel to Indianapolis.  Yes, Vinatieri will teach them that letting all their stars leave for even modest money is going to haunt them.  And Peyton figured has figured out their defense.  Patriots and Saints go to the showers...

If the Redskins could beat the Saints in New Orleans, Da Bears can do it in Chicago.  If Vladman1327 had taken the Bears, I probably would have gone with the Saints...since God probably took them in the pool...
 :worship:  :halo:
After Vladman1327 and I both emerge as 8-2, we can make the total points scored in the Super Bowl the tiebreaker, in case we pick the same champion.

Notes:
-When the time to predict the SuperBowl comes, please indicate what you think the score will be. This will be judged by who comes closest to predicting the score in terms of difference of points.  This will be used to break ties, if the need arises.
-Congratulations to nats2playoffs and Nats19 for correctly prognosticating the winners of the Conference championships!
-Remember, it's only a tie if two people have the same number correct AND the same number incorrect, as someone who has participated more gets the nod.

I picked the Saints to win the NFC Championship game, so I didn't get those two right.  However, my record is correct (was 7-1, now 8-2).

When it began snowing in Chicago before the game, I knew that God had changeth His bet to Da Bears.  Dome teams are now 0-10 in outdoors NFL conference championship games.

Now if the playoffs were in November, that stat would be different.

When it started off 21-3, I really thought it was gonna be just another Colts chokefest, but kudos to them for getting it done and doing what New Orleans could not by making a huge comeback.
