Before you accuse me of being The Old Codger User, I don't have a problem with all of these. There's no reason to oppose having "thread" in a title (like "Random crap thread" or the sacred BWT). But this whole thing is ballooning into a trend where everyone takes what they actually want the thread to be called, and then puts it between "The" and "thread".
I'm trying to figure out why this got popular. Maybe this is an attempt for people to feel like their opinions are shared? For example:
"The Stephen Strasburg is Not an Ace Thread" - sounds like a place for the Strasburg detractor club to meet.
"Stephen Strasburg is Not an Ace" - sounds more like one grumbling crank.
So I guess "The...thread" implies that way more people agree with the person who starts the thread? Or maybe it's viewed as being humorous?
