What if they gave him essentially the same offer 2 years with a mutual third.  I don't know what the appropriate dollar figure would be, but 2 years with a mutual third...

I like it.  I think then you have to move Morse, because I think you need to look at Moore/Brown as everyday players, so I think Moore takes over for Morse, LaRoche plays two more years, Morse goes for the best A/AA-ball package you can get and you focus on either resigning EJ or making a run at Greinke.  Sign ZNN to an extension and call it an offseason.  I like the lineup the way it is - I'm off needing a leadoff guy - I like Werth at leadoff.

Corey Brown hasn't shown anything to prove he's more than a 5th OF/25th man type of guy.

Has he really gotten a chance?

He's past the prospect point and slowly entering the journeyman AAAA type player.  If he was someone worthy of being an everyday player, I'm sure he would have gotten a much longer look, especially
on a team that did not have many OF options from 2011-midway through 2012.

He is what he is. Not saying he can't be valuable in a bench role, I'm sure he can. But I really doubt Rizzo factors him in to the decision at all in regards to Morse/ALR/any other OF.

Just extend ALaR, at whatever remuneration. Who the heck cares?

It's not the money. It's the years that's the worry.

I still say offer him another two more with a mutual third.
