I wouldn't say it was ineffective today. An inning that started with the first two batters getting a free pass ended with only one run given up. That could have been a LOT worse. Without H-Rod in that inning no runs score and the only baserunner is the walk that Stammen issued.
Actually, walking the first two batters changes the entire inning. If Stammen had started a clean inning, his pitch selection would likely have been different and he may not have walked that batter.
Henry Rodriguez did bad things to the bullpen today.
