So now their top of the order will get to bat in the 9th.

Pitcher spot has to come up first - and the mets don't have anyone left on the bench

We can't use Rauch tomorrow and we have an off day on Monday.

He needs a couple of days off.

I thought he was going to walk that last batter so we caught a little bit of a break.

Agreed - I doubt he'd work tomorrow regardless ...

Rauch (and the rest of the BP) has been great recently, so I think we can allow that to happen now, in a situation where we still are left with the lead. Could have been MUCH worse.

That day off on Monday will be large for our bullpen. We'll need Chico to give us a long outing against the Reds on Monday at RFK.

Who would you have had pitch the 8th and then the 9th? Rauch just isn't getting it done that's all.

I didn't like the idea of letting Rauch bat in the middle of an actual rally.  We could have put more runs on the board, with 2 men on base.  He struck out and gave them a free out.

Who would you go to? Ayala is not available and neither is Saul ... I was ok with the decision - it's been a while since Jon's been knocked around like that ...
